This is a reference for the Universal 10/100VG Configuration
and Diagnostic Program Version 1.20 (VGCONFIG.EXE v1.20).

It can be used to software configure and diagnose
Universal 10/100VG Series network adapters. With this utility, users can
change the hardware settings on Universal 10/100VG network adapters at
any time easily.

For the Manual Configuration of VGCONFIG
     ========================================

All the options are described briefly below.

          a) Operating Mode
This refers to the Data Transfer Mode.
Two modes are supported for 10/100VG-ISA.
               :- I/O Map
               :- Memory Map

Three modes are supported for 10/100VG-EISA.
               :- Bus Master
               :- I/O Map
               :- Memory Map

          b) I/O Base (Valid only for 10/100VG-ISA)
               The valid I/O base address are 0x200, 0x240, 0x280, 0x2C0,
          0x300, 0x340 and 0x380.

          c) IRQ
Set your network adapter at an IRQ level not to
be used by other I/O devices in your system unit. If
the same IRQ level is used by your adapter and another
I/O devices in your system unit, change the IRQ level
          to prevent conflict.
               The valid IRQ level are 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 15.

          d) Cable Type
There are two supported cable type.
:- Twisted pair (VG) for 100VG
:- Twisted pair (TPI) for 10Mbps

             Note:
There is also an option to choose Auto-Sense which can
determine the cable type that is in used.

          e) Boot Protocol
This refer to the server type that is supported by the
                Universal 10/100VG Boot PROM (optional).
:- NetWare NW-RPL (Novell NetWare RPL Server)
                    :- Microsoft LAN Manager
                    :- IBM LAN Server 3.x
                    :- IBM LAN Server 4.x
:- Any Server (will attach to any server)

          f) PROM Setting
It specifies the starting address of the boot
PROM. The supported address are 0xB000:0, 0xC000:0, 0xD000:0
and 0xE000:0 with the size of the PROM at 8K, 16K and 32K.

Note : For 10/100VG-PCI adapter, only cable type can be chosen
            and saved.

For the Card Diagnostic of VGCONFIG
     ===================================

Five tests are available for you to test the functionality
of different parts of the network adapter. However, if any part of
the test failed, the remaining test will not be continued.

The On Screen Diagnostic window will show you the progress of
the five test. The five test that is performed are:

        a) [Initialization]
In this test, all registers will be tested and verified. If
a network adapter passes this test, the diagnostic will start to
check the cable type that is attached to the network adapter.

        b) [Cable Check]
Check to ensure that there is a proper connection connected to
        the network adapter.

        c) [VG Hub Login]
Start the training process and try to login to the 100VG Hub.

        d) [IRQ Test]
This test checks the interrupt line between the
network adapter and the system board. The test will initiate
an interrupt through the adapter and then checks whether the interrupt
        can be received or not.

        e) [RAM Test]
The program checks every memory module on the network
adapter by Read-After-Write tests. These tests can verify
the address and data paths and the memory modules
        separately.
