1. Overview

This file contains information about the configuration of the
ACOTEC CAPI Subsystem (CAPI 2.0) update.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

2. Configuring the CAPI Subsystem

The installation of the CAPI Subsystem sets default values for
the ISDN modem's EAZ/MSN, and the B channel protocol and framing.
These value are normally suitable for the immediate operation
        of your ISDN modem.

        Default Settings:

MSN = empty (i.e. the device reacts to all incoming calls)

CPN = empty (i.e. outgoing calls will not be assigned any
                       particular EAZ/MSN.)
        P (protocol) = HDLC
        F (framing) = DETECT

If you need to alter these values, proceed as follows:

In the Control Panel, double-click on the Modems icon and select
the "Properties" option. Select "Connection" and then click on
the "Advanced" button. In this "Advanced Connection Settings"
window, you will see the following string in the "Extra Settings"
        field:

        AT+MSN=+CPN=+P=HDLC+F=DETECT

        MSN=
After the "MSN=" entry, the MSN/EAZ number can be entered
which will be used to determine whether an incoming call is to
be accepted by this device or not. If no entry is made here,
then all incoming calls will be accepted by this ISDN board.

        P=
The protocol which is to be used for incoming calls is defined
after the "P=" entry, and the following values can be used:
        H[DLC]
        X[75]
        V[110]
        D[ETECT]

        F=
To define the framing "F=" for incoming calls, one of the
following entries is to be given:
        D[ETECT]
        S[YNC]
        A[SYNC]
        N[ONE]

        CPN=
The Calling Party Number "CPN=" can be set for outgoing calls.
This is useful when a caller ID is required before a call can be
        accepted.

After the installation of the CAPI Subsystem, the following
        services can be used:

        RNA via ISDN
        CAPI Telephone Service Provider

------------------------------------------------------------------------

3. Setting up the RNA via ISDN

You can set up your computer to work as a Client (which can
connect to other PCs via ISDN) or as a Server (other PCs can
        access your computer).

        Client:

Double-click on "My Computer". Select "Dial-Up Networking" and
        double-click.
Activate "Make New Connection". Make an entry for the name of the
computer you are calling via ISDN, select the "AcoISDN" from the
"Select a modem" field, and click on "Next".

In the following dialog the country code, area code, and tele-
phone number are to be entered. Note that the protocol and
framing for the connection to the remote computer can also be
entered into this field directly after the telephone number.
If no such entries for protocol and framing are made, then the
default settings will be HDLC for protocol and Sync for framing.

The following example shows how to define settings:

        Telephone number; 1234567+P=X75+F=Async+C=<n>

If the number called is for an ISDN BBS, then the framing must
be set for Async and the protocol must be set according to the
        remote station.

For calls to a RAS or RNA remote station the settings must be
        P=HDLC and F=Sync.

Exit this dialog by clicking on "Next", and close the config-
        uration by clicking on "Finish".

This procedure should be repeated for each computer which is to
        be accessed via ISDN.

        Server:

In "Dial-Up Networking", select the "Connections" menu and the
"Connection" option and the "Server Type" entry button will
        appear.

Select this button to open the "Server Type" dialog by selecting
the "ACOTEC ISDN Modem" sheet. From this sheet, select the
"ISDN Modem (AcoISDN1)" entry. In the following dialog, activate
the "Enable Remote Access" option and click on the "Server
Type..." button. Select the protocol "PPP:Windows95, Windows
        NT...".

        Finish the configuration.

4. Remote Station for Testing

The following computer is available for the purposes of testing,
for the latest updates, and for information about the newest
        ACOTEC products and support:

\\ACONT under the telephone number +493046706333.

Via RNA you can dial in to this computer as a guest with the
password "Password", and the following directories will be
        available to you:

        \driver with updates and information,

\public directory offering write and read rights for
                        testing.

\info You can write your queries in text form and save
them to this location. The ACOTEC Support team
will make every possible effort to answer your
questions in the shortest possible time.
