1. Overview

This disk contains the ELSE VIEWER software for MicroStation
PC 4.x. See section 2 for a list of files and their purpose.
Information in this file may not appear in the manuals. Please
read this file carefully to be aware of any changes to the
documentation. Information in files on disk supersedes the
	printed documentation.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

2. Directory Contents

The directory contains the following files:

README the file you currently look at
LIESMICH German version of this READM file
MMP.MA modified version of the MicroStation Manager
VIEWER.MA MicroStation internal part of ELSA VIEWER
VIEWER.EXP MicroStation external part of ELSA VIEWER

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

3. Installation

Copy this directory to MDLAPPS in your MicroStation root
	directory.
If you want to use the MMP.MA change the environment variable
MS_INITAPPS from MM to MMP. You can make this change by using
an editor in the file UCONFIG.DAT in the directory DATA in your
MicroStation root directory. Or you can change this environment
	variable inside of MicroStation's menu.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

4. Notes

ELSA VIEWER is a tool to view MicroStation drawings (*.dgn)
	without loading them into MircoStation.
The basis for using ELSA VIEWER is an ELSA graphics board and
the configuration of MicroStation to use an ELSA graphics
	driver.
You can start ELSA VIEWER before you load a drawing into
MicroStation (4.1.) or while you're running MicroStation to look
at an other drawing than currently loaded (4.2.).
You can move (pan) the drawing in ELSA VIEWER by simply using
	the cursor keys (4.3.).
Functions to select a part of the drawing and to zoom are
available by the Control-Menu. Every Function is available by
	key accelerators too (4.4.).

4.1 Starting ELSA VIEWER from MMP

When you use the modified MicroStation Mangager MMP.MA you find
a button labeled VIEWER between the OK and the CANCEL button.
Click on this button after selecting a file. ELSA VIEWER opens
a window with the shows the selected drawing. To look at an other
drawing or th start MicroStation you first have to close ELSA
	PREIVEW.

If you want to use the modified MicroStation Manager under
MicroStation 4.x you have to change the line with the entry
MS_INITAPPS in the file DATA/CONFIGUR.DAT. Normally you will
find there the entry <mm.ma>. Change this entry to <mmp.ma>.

If you want to use the modified MicroStation Manager under
MicroStation 5.x you have to add the line
		MS_INITAPPS=mmp.ma
	in the file CONFIG/MSLOCAL.CFG.

4.2 Starting ELSA VIEWER from the MicroStation command window

Load ELSA VIEWER like every other MDL application (e.g. by typing
in MDL LOAD VIEWER). When you used before you don't have to load
	it again.
Start ELSA VIEWER by typing in VIEWER. Select a file in the
following file selection. Then ELSA VIEWER opens a window with
this drawing. While ELSA VIEWER is opened you can interact with
	MicroStation as normal.
