1. Overview

This disk contains all components of the driver POWERdraft
for AutoCAD R13 and AutoCAD LT for Windows 95.

Complete documentation can be found in the file LANG13EN.HLP,
which can be opened in the Windows file manager.
This help may contain more recent information than the
        printed documentation.

**********************************************************************

2. Directory Contents

The root directory contains the following files:

        README.TXT this file
LIESMICH.TXT German version of this file
LANG13EN.HLP Windows help files in English and German
        LANG13DE.HLP
        SETUP.EXE Installation program for Windows
(all others) files that will be installed

**********************************************************************

3. Installation

Start the program SETUP.EXE under Windows 3.1/3.11 or
Windows NT 3.51/4.0 or Windows 95. You can use the menu item
File/Run in the Program Manager or double click SETUP.EXE in
the File Manager or Windows Explorer.

3.1 long file names / space characters

Unfortunately SETUP currently does not support long file names
or names containing space characters. If a path contains such
critical names, please use the corresponding short names
instead (the short name contains at least one "~" character).
        E.g.: the short name of
            C:\USER\ABC DEF\AUTOCAD LT\VERSION3
        may be
            C:\USER\ABCDEF~1\AUTOCA~1\VERSION3

There are two ways to get the corresponding short names:

        (a) Use the DIR command in a DOS box:

            Windows 95:
The DIR command automatically displays short names.

            Windows NT 3.51/4.0:
Use the /X option. This option instructs the DIR command
to display the short names for all non-8dot3 file names.

        (b) Use the File Manager (not the Windows Explorer!):

            Windows 95:
To start the File Manager, select "Run..." from the "Start"
menu and enter "winfile". The File Manager only displays
short names (in contrast to the Windows Explorer only
            displaying long names).

            Windows NT 3.51:
Start the File Manager and turn on the option
"View/Partial Details.../MS-DOS file names" or simply
"View/All File Details". Then the File Manager will display
the short names (MS-DOS names) for all non-8dot3 file names.

            Windows NT 4.0:
To start the File Manager, select "Run..." from the "Start"
menu and enter "winfile". In the File Manager turn on the
option "View/Partial Details.../MS-DOS file names" or simply
"View/All File Details". Then the File Manager will display
the short names (MS-DOS file names) for all non-8dot3 file
            names.

4. Notes

For a complete description of the driver configuration please
see the help file as described above.

5. Release Notes

Changes from version 1.0 to version 1.01:
        - POWERdraft now supports the dual (or multiple) screen modes
under Windows NT and Windows 3.1x.
        - Rendered images are restored to screen and can be saved
          to disk.
        - The driver was ported to the DEC Alpha platform, is shipped
          as a separate driver.
        - Now plot-Preview also works fine with tilemode turned off.
        - Non-Orthogonal cursors are cleared properly, even if another
          window overlaps.
        - The screen menu area is restored properly.
        - Windows 95 is supported. Use at least AutoCAD R13c4.

Changes from version 1.01 to version 1.02:
        - POWERdraft has its own toolbar.
        - New Cockpit feature: configurable remote control for easiest
          transparent Pan and Zoom
        - New MultiView feature: Fix Button to freeze the history view
        - New commands: ELSA*, XREDRAW*, CPFIX*, CPADDVIEW
        - Easiest configuration of POWERdraft via command ELSAconfig or
          ELSA toolbar
        - Concave polygons are drawn properly.
        - The tools react on a palette change properly.
        - AutoCAD's special select modes (like Fence or CPolygon) are
          now handled correctly.
        - GLoria-M and GLoria-L are supported
        - WINNER3000-S is supported.

Changes from version 1.02 to version 1.03:
        - Windows NT 4.0 is supported.
        - Under Windows 3.1x you need a newer version of Win32s (see
          note below).

Changes from version 1.03 to version 2.00:
        - AutoCAD LT for Windows 95 is supported.
        - The edit optimization automatically redraws entities damaged
          by delete operations.
        - POWERdraft supports smart dragging (fast and colored).
        - Fixed problems during AutoCAD's startup with ARX
          applications.
        - Clicking with the left mouse button on the ELSA logo in the
Cockpit window invokes the ELSA command (opens the ELSA
          toolbar).
        - Now the command ELSA_ON places the ELSA toolbar in the center
of AutoCAD's drawing area (in contrast to the command ELSA,
          that preserves the old position).

6. Caveats / Known Problems

Under Windows 3.1x you should avoid full screen DOS boxes while
POWERdraft is running. Windowed DOS boxes are uncritical,
        however.

        !!! important for Windows 3.1x !!!
POWERdraft version 1.03.00 or higher needs Microsoft's WIN32S
version 1.25.142 or higher. AutoCAD R13c4 is shipped with this
version of WIN32S; however, AutoCAD R13c0 was shipped with
version 1.20.123, which won't work with POWERdraft any more.
Please ensure you have a proper version of WIN32S installed on
your system before installing POWERdraft (WIN32S.INI in the
Windows system directory contains the version number).
You can find Microsoft WIN32S version 1.25.142 on the AutoCAD
R13c4 CD or on the ELSA WINNERware CD in \ELSAware\WIN32S.

With an ARX application loaded the ELSA toolbar may disappear
when a drawing is opened. You can get the toolbar again by
entering the command ELSA or clicking on the ELSA logo in the
        Cockpit window.

Currently SETUP does not support long file names or file
names containing space characters. Please read section
        3.1 (Installation/long file names) above.

AutoCAD LT for Windows 95 only: The ELSA toolbar does not
open automatically, if the path name of the AutoCAD LT
directory contains space characters. In this case please
use AutoCAD's command MENULOAD to load the menu file
MNELSA13.MNS from the AutoCAD LT directory. You only need to
do this once. In further AutoCAD sessions the ELSA toolbar
        will appear automatically.

The current version of POWERdraft does not support multi/dual
processor systems under Windows NT 3.51/4.0.
