Installing Windows 3.1
----------------------

If you have not installed Windows 3.1 on your hard disk, do so
now. Select VGA as the default display device and follow the
prompts until Windows is completely installed. Run Windows to
make sure it comes up and is in working order. Exit Windows.

Run SETUP from the Windows 3.1 directory in DOS and scroll up to
"Display" using the arrow keys and [Enter]. Scroll down to "Other
(Required disk provided by hardware manufacturer)" and [Enter].
Insert the AVGA1 Windows 3.1 Drivers Disk in A: or B: and type WIN31
in the box where Windows prompts to enter the hardware manufacturer
display device driver. For example, type the following:

	A:\

(If you downloaded the A1WIN31.ZIP file from the Acumos BBS, copy and
unzip this file to a designated directory. Replace the samples listed
here with the appropriate drive letter and directory.)

You will then be presented with the following:

	AVGA1 800x600, 16 Colors

Select one of these options and [ENTER]. Setup will prompt you to
insert the Microsoft Windows 3.1 Disk #2. Enter the appropriate drive
letter and directory in the box, for example:

	C:\WINDOWS

Note: Setup may prompt you several more times to insert the Microsoft
Windows 3.1 Disks looking for the following Windows files: VGALOGO.LGO,
VGALOGO.RLE, WIN.CNF, VGAFIX.FON, etc. If these files cannot be found
by Setup in the Windows 3.1 directory, insert the appropriate Windows
3.1 diskette into your floppy drive and enter the appropriate drive
letter in the box.

Windows should now come up in the resolution you selected. In changing
the display again, run Setup from within Windows. Windows 3.1 require
that you only run the Setup once from outside Windows, since it creates
an OEM0.INF file. This file is incremented every time Setup is run and
"Other (required disk provided by hardware manufacturer)" is selected
as the display option.
