Installing a Windows 3.0 driver
-------------------------------

If you haven't already done so, install Windows 3.0 using the
diskettes and instructions that came with your Windows 3.0
package. Choose VGA as your display choice.

Setting up an AVGA2 Display Driver
----------------------------------

1) Assuming that Windows resides in C:\WINDOWS, go to your Windows
directory. For example, type:

	C:
	C:\> cd\windows

2) At the Windows directory type SETUP and press ENTER. For example
type:

	C:\WINDOWS> SETUP

3) In the System Information screen, scroll to "Display" using the
UP/DOWN arrow key and ENTER. Scroll down to "Other (Requires disk
provided by a hardware manufacturer)" and select ENTER.

4) You will then be prompted to "Please insert your display driver
disk provided by the hardware manufacturer ..." followed by a box with
the "A:\" prompt. Note: This prompts you to enter the drive and/or
path (if applicable) where the AVGA2 Windows driver files can be found.
For example: If you decompressed the WINDOWS driver files using the
INSTALL.BAT decompression file to the drive and path of C:\AVGA2\WINDOWS,
type C:\AVGA2\WINDOWS at the box and press ENTER. This is how it should
appear:

	C:\AVGA2\WINDOWS

5) The following AVGA2 display driver options will display:

	AVGA2 640x480 256 colors
	AVGA2 800x600 16 colors
	AVGA2 800x600 256 colors
	AVGA2 1024x768 16 colors

6) Select any one of these AVGA2 drivers.

7) Setup will now display: "If the files on this disk can be found at
a different location, enter a new path to the files in the prompt below."
Simply type the following again for the correct AVGA2 Windows path.

	C:\AVGA2\WINDOWS

8) Select ENTER where it prompts you to "Accept the configuration
as shown above".

9) Press ENTER at the option "3.) Setup can make NO changes for you."

10) Windows 3.0 has now been installed using one of the AVGA2 drivers
above. Type WIN at the DOS prompt and the Windows resolution should
come up according to what you selected.

Using the Patched version of the MS Windows 3 Multimedia Extension
1.0 Device-Independent Bitmaps (DIB.DRV) Driver
------------------------------------------------------------------

DIB.DRV - The DIB.DRV (date-stamped 11/7/91) from Microsoft found in
the Windows directory of the AVGA2 Drivers/Utilities disk
is a patched version of the DIB.DRV which includes a fix for
the large fonts used by the Multimedia Extension applica-
tions. Copy this file to your Windows system directory
after installing the MS Multimedia Development Kit ver. 1.0.

	   Using the Microsoft-supplied DIB.DRV (date-stamped 9/19/91)
with the AVGA2 Windows 3 drivers will cause the fonts in the
pull-down menus to disappear and the dialog boxes to get
	   corrupted.
