VideoLogic Patch release 107
----------------------------

Color Corruption / Blank Screen with
the IBM 350 - P90(Model # 6586-45H) /P75
----------------------------------------

_______________________________________________________________

The problem:

If you are experiencing color corruption or getting a
blank screen with just the mouse pointer being visible,
you may be having problems with how the GrafixStar 700s
S3 968 controller and your motherboards PCI bus, interact.

The problem arises due to the GrafixStar 700s BIOS increasing
the length of the DAC read/write cycles between the S3 968
controller and the External RAMDAC. The elongating of these
cycles has caused the S3 968 controller to interact with the
PCI bus of the motherboard in such a way as to cause the
aforementioned symptoms.

The fix to the problem is in two stages, dependent on whether
or not you have a VMC controller.

Stage One - The BIOS TSR provided as part of Patch 107
reduces the length of the read/write cycles
thus fixing systems without a VMC controller.

Stage Two -	The updated miniport VLS3968m.DRV provided
as part of patch 107 is required if you have
a VMC controller and are using Windows 3.1/3.11.
		Windows 95 user's requier the miniport VLPP700a.DRV.
The original miniport would overwrite the TSR BIOS and
increase the length of the read/write cycles.

How to install:

After installing the card and re-booting the machine please do the
following setup BEFORE running Windows in VGA mode to perform the
GrafixStar 700 software installation. If the GrafixStar 700 software
is already installed then do the following steps before running
Windows.

Copy the 968bios.exe file supplied into the root directory of your
hard drive next to the file AUTOEXEC.BAT. Then add the following
line to the start of your AUTOEXEC.BAT file-

C:\968BIOS.EXE

(presuming that your boot drive is labelled C)

Then proceed to perform the GrafixStar 700 and VMC Controller
software installations as normal.

After the VMC Controller install and before you attempt to turn on
the VMC Controller check-box in the display application you must
perform the following update after closing down Windows-

Copy relevant file (VLS3968m.DRV or VLPP700a.DRV) over the top of
the file of the same name installed by the VMC Controller software
(This is placed by default in the C:\VLPROD directory).

Then installation is complete and when you restart Windows you
will be able to go to the display application and enable VMC
Controller via the 'Edit Mode' control.

Further installation of MPEGPlayer etc. can be done normally.
