1. Overview

This directory contains the current firmware for the
ISDN terminal adapter MicroLink ISDN/TLV.34 in the form of
        update files.

The firmware with the "X" at the fifth position of the filename
gives you the possibility to use the ELSA's proprietary channel
bundling. The firmware with the "P" in the filename provides
Multilink PPP for ISDN Internet connection with 2 B channels.

If your ISDN terminal adapter is already equipped with a
Flash-ROM for the firmware, then an AT command can load the new
firmware from your PC into the terminal adapter. The firmware
        files are in this directory.

3. Firmware Upload Guide

Note: In very rarely cases the expansion of a just now uploaded
firmware could fail. To fix this problem you can upload the
above mentioned BIOS update before uploading the (next) firmware.

An easier way than the below described method to upload a new
firmware is provided by the configuration manager which can be
	installed from the product CD.

A firmware (firmware update, loader or BIOS update) can be loaded
into the Flash-ROM of your ISDN terminal adapter either with an AT
command or with the Firmware Loader described above. Follow these
	steps:

        1.)
Start your terminal program (e.g. Telix) and set up your modem
        configuration for the MicroLink ISDN/TLV.34.

        2.)
IMPORTANT: Be certain to select a data transfer rate to the ISDN
terminal adapter which is smaller than or equal to
                   57,600 bps!

        3.)
Now enter the command ATUPX. This initializes the firmware
        upload.

        4.)
In the terminal program, set the protocol for the upload to
        "XMODEM"

        5.)
With the terminal program, start the upload (e.g. in Telix for
Windows click on the "Upload" button or File|Upload) and select
the file to be uploaded from its directory (on this CD).
To check which firmware file you need, refer to section 2 of
        this file.

The successful upload of a firmware file takes two to three
minutes at 57,600 bps. The message "!!! upload ok" will be
displayed. A delay will arise if a slower data transfer rate is
used or if problems arise with the transfer of the data, for
example when a data transfer rate is selected which is faster
than the capabilities of the serial interface.

NOTES: -Be aware that firmware can support the D channel
protocols of either the European DSS1 or 1TR6 types or
the US American AT&T 5ESS and NI-1 types. If the ISDN
terminal adapter is moved from one to the other of these
areas, an update of the firmware would be essential.
The D channel protocols supported by your firmware is
                displayed with the command "AT+IDP=?".

-Be aware that uploading firmware cannot make a TLV.34
out of your TLpro, or vice versa. The terminal adapter
will simply block the data transfer and display the
message "!!! error: upload file is not valid for MicroLink
                ISDN/TLV.34".

-Please note that these firmware versions are only meant
for the current Eprom version (as of 1.16) on analog
                piggy-back boards.

4. Trouble Shooting

-If strange characters appear after entering the ATUPX command,
then you have entered a data transfer rate greater than
       57,600bps.

Solution: Select a lower data transfer rate.

-If the message "ERROR" appears after the ATUPX command, then your
MicroLink ISDN/TLV.34 is an earlier model which does not support
       firmware upload.

       Solution: Contact ELSA Support.

-If, after the ATUPX command and successful data transfer, your
ISDN terminal adapter malfunctions and displays that the wrong
memory type was detected, then you have a MicroLink ISDN/TLV.34
       equipped with EPROM.

       Solution: Contact ELSA Support.

-The upload fails without any transfer of data.

       Solution: a)
Check that the data transfer protocol is set to
                 "XMODEM".

                 b)
You have chosen the wrong file for uploading. Repeat
the upload and be sure to select the correct file.
