1.      Overview

	This file contains new information which may not be printed in
	the manual. If any information is contrary to the manual, the
	contents of this file is to be applied.

2.      Description of the Windows tools

	The following tools will be installed:

2.1     Windows 95

	ELSA Settings           Tool to define new resolutions, change the
				screen position and adjust monitor timing
	DirektX Settings        Shows actual DirectX status, and allows
				control filtering
	ELSA Info               Shows information about the installed ELSA
				graphics board
	ELSA WINman Suite       Central control program for using the
				programs mentioned above
	ERGONOmeter             Program to display the image refresh rate
				and horizontal scan frequency
	RUNman                  Extension tool to enhance the Windows
				Program Manager.
2.1.1   ELSA Settings

	ELSA Settings allows you to define new resolutions, set monitor
	refresh rates, change the screen position and adjust the monitor
	timing. It is possible to set any individual timing your
	hardware supports.

2.1.2   DirectX Settings

	The "DirectX Settings" is a page in the "Properties for Display"
	under Windows 95 to show the current status of the DirectDraw and
	Direct3D and allows to set several filters to succeed optimal
	performance of your ELSA graphics board.

2.1.3   ELSA Info

	The ELSA Info page shows a range of information about your Windows
	system and the ELSA graphics board installed. Not just important
	hardware information like detailed designation of the ELSA
	graphics board, memory expansion and BIOS version is displayed, but
	also the version of the graphics driver and the Windows version.

2.1.4   ELSA WINman Suite

	The WINman Suite is the central control program to reach straight
	to the ELSA tools, ELSA Settings, DirectX Settings, and ELSA Info.


2.1.5   ERGONOmeter

	This program finds out the current refresh and horizontal scan
	rates. Ergonomic values appear in the green-colored section.

	In the system menu you can change the language (German/English).

	NOTE:
	Under Windows 95, you can get into the system menu by
	clicking on the title bar with the right mouse button.

2.1.6   RUNman

	After the installation of RUNman, yoiu can define the
	location of the installation file with your settings:

	- at local installation under WINDOWS\ELSAUTIL
	- in the network Windows directory
	- nowhere, for testing the program

	In the system menu "File..." you can add programs to the RUNman
	buttons (see help "Keyboard and mouse commands"), open programs,
	inspect the program item properties or delete icons from RUNman.
	With the item "Language..." you can choose between "Deutsch"
	(German) and "U.K. English".

	NOTE:
	Under Windows 95, you can get into the system menu by
	clicking on the title bar with the right mouse button.

	Icons can be dragged into RUNman from the Microsoft
	File Manager and the HP Dashboard with the mouse (drag & drop).

	In the menu "Options..." many manipulations of RUNman are
	possible. Use the <F2> key to open the menu in the RUNman
	window.

	Keyboard commands:
	<F1>                    Help
	<F2>                    Set options
	<F10>                   Turn the title bar on and off
	<Alt-F4>                Exit RUNman
	<Ins>                   Insert new file (browse)
	<Del>                   Delete current file from RUNman
	<Enter>                 Open file
	<Alt-Enter>             Set program item properties
	<Ctrl-Shift-0>          Standard combination for file import
					from the Windows Program Manager (user-
					definable)

	The mouse commands are described in the help system "Keyboard
	and Mouse Commands". For detailed information press <F1> for
	help.

	To use RUNman every time you start Windows, move the RUNman
	icon into the window for the "Startup" group by pressing the Ctrl-key
	and moving the icon with the mouse. The settings to RUNman are saved
	in a special installation file.


2.2     Windows 3.1x

	DCIset          Display of actual DCI state and DCI adjustment
	ERGONOmeter     Display of the actual refresh rate and horizontal
			scan rate..
	GLASSman        Magnifying glass under Windows
	POWERman        DPMS Power Saver. Screen saver for monitors
			with DPMS support.
	RUNman          Extension for the Windows Program Manager.
			Central control of the Windows applications,
			always in front, simple switching, hotkeys,
			configurable.
	Terminator      Abort Windows, restart or reboot system.


2.2.1   DCIset

	This program provides information about the current DCI state for
	graphics boards with DCI-support. You have also the option
	to change this state between primary and offscreen support.
	If you activate the offscreen support, you can use x- and y-
	filters, too.

	With the Windows driver version 4.15 the function "Dithering"
	is also supported.


2.2.2   ERGONOmeter

	The program finds out the current refresh and horizontal scan
	rates. Ergonomic values appear in the green-colored section.

	In the system menu you can change the language (German/English).

	NOTE:
	Under Windows 95, you can get into the system menu by
	clicking on the title bar with the right mouse button.

2.2.3   GLASSman

	The program GLASSman offers you a magnifying glass for
	Windows. You have several possibilities to activate GLASSman's zoom
	function. Starting the program will activate the zoom and
	the area indicated by the mouse cursor will be enlarged.

	If GLASSman is already running you have three possibilities
	to activate the zoom function again:
	1. Restart GLASSman. The program recognizes that it has been
	   started already and reactivates the currently running version.
	2. Activate the running program with the ENTER key.
	3. Use the hot-key if you have defined one in the option box.

	In the option box you can configure your favorite settings.
	You can choose between different displays (border,
	magnificent) and zoom factors.
	Additionally you can define the hot-key to activate the zoom.

	In the system menu you can change the language (German/English).

	For more information make use of the help system.


2.2.4   POWERman

	By using the icon "POWERman" the special ELSA screen saver is
	installed into the "Control Panel", "Desktop" and the installation
	menu is opened. You can modify the times for stand-by-,
	suspend- and off-mode. You can use password protection to lock your
	system if desired. For more information press <F1> for help.

	In the system menu you can change the language (German/English).


2.2.5   RUNman

	After installing RUNman you can define the location of the
	installation file with your preferred settings:

	- at local installation under WINDOWS\ELSAUTIL
	- in the network Windows directory
	- nowhere, for testing program

	In the system menu "File..." you can add programs to the RUNman
	buttons (see help "Keyboard and mouse commands"), open programs,
	watch the program item properties or delete icons from RUNman.

2.2.6   Terminator

	The ELSA Terminator offers the following possibilities:

	- abort Windows
	- restart Windows
	- reboot system

	The Terminator supports some command line options:

	RESTART Set the program to "restart Windows".
	REBOOT  Set the program to "reboot system".
	NOCONFIRM       Suppresses the message "OK"/"Cancel", the action
			follows directly.
	NOSELECT        Suppresses the choice between the different actions.
			This has no influence to the security message.

	EXAMPLE:
	Create new symbol in the File Manager with "File, New" and the
	command line

	   C:\WINDOWS\ELSAUTIL\TERMINAT.EXE RESTART NOCONFIRM NOSELECT

	Using this new symbol Windows will be closed and restarted
	without any choice of termination and confirm message.

3.      Known Problems

3.1     RUNman

	With Central Point PC Tools for Windows the standard hot-key
	<Ctrl-Shift-Ins> to add symbols to RUNman does not work.

	The same problem arises with the HP Dashboard. Use drag & drop
	to add symbols to RUNman (drag the symbol with the mouse and
	drop it into the RUNman window).
